We have decided that we will need to do more lighting tests to get some shots that will benefit us with our genre in mind, our footage will be filmed in daylight so we will need to get lighting shots of this.
Phoebe Francis Research • Trailer recreation evaluation – you would benefit from a paragraph explaining how the making of a trailer will influence your own production work (e.g. understanding how editing and use of micro-elements feed into creating excitement, anticipation etc…) • Codes and conventions of magazines – this isn’t as detailed as it should be. You should be looking at a wider range of magazines and it would be advisable to also look at language used on the cover (e.g. types of stories featured and how the cover lines are word to draw attention/make sound interesting). • Film Pitches – you need some form of explanation for this post. Explain the video and the reason for the survey (e.g. what you are going to do with the results). • Survey Results – you need a conclusion that outlines your decision as to what film you have decided to make and why. • Trailer narratives – you have looked at four films. I think it would be beneficial for you to provide some commentary on how your findings will influence the narrative of your own trailer. It would also be beneficial to see you applying these findings to your own trailer concept. Could you create one post out of this so that the research looks more cohesive? You could also create a second post following this to show how the research has informed your own trailer’s narrative. • Audience Profile for ‘Her’ – I think your psychographic groups are off. I don’t think this was aimed at ‘mainstreamers’ or ‘strugglers’ – I think the concept is a little too abstract for these groups. You are looking more at ‘explorers’ and maybe ‘reformers’. • Target audience – you should be stating who your market are and how you have come to this conclusion (e.g. link to research). Planning • Script – seems short. It should incorporate not just the dialogue but also the action. I would suggest creating a second draft with more detail and commentary about what you have changed etc… • Wardrobe – you should really have some commentary/reasoning behind decisions made and intended impact on the audience. • Audience feedback on storyboard – this requires some form of reflection. What purpose does the feedback serve? How will it influence your work? OVERALL – level 3 (13/20). There is a wide range of posts here but there is a noticeable amount that have been posted/completed by other group members. This can cause a discrepancy in group marks. From what I have seen in class, you would benefit from working at a quicker pace to get tasks done. In terms of increasing your mark, complete the work outlined above and perhaps include some of the work suggested on my ‘COULD’ list.
